Assignment Description:

For this assignment, students are challenged to conduct archival research to determine how Atlanta University Center (AUC) student fashion addressed and reflected their socio-cultural and geo-political perspectives during the 1870s -1900s; 1920s – 1940s; 1960s; and the 2000s. Students will explore the AUC yearbooks, student handbooks, and student publications in the AUC Robert W. Woodruff Archives Research Center to obtain historical background regarding student activism at the institutions during their assigned time periods. 


Learning Outcomes

Students will be able to:

⚬ Learn how to read and navigate the AUC Archives Research Center Finding Aids.

⚬ Read and navigate archival collections accessible online through the Repository of AUC Digital collections, Archives, and Research (RADAR).

⚬ Conduct archival research.

⚬ Gain experience using primary source documents.

Preparation for Assignment

⚬ Faculty should schedule a consultation with an Archives Research Center and GLAM Center staff member prior to this assignment.

⚬ Faculty will need to schedule at least one instruction session with the Archives Research Center.
