AUC Art Collections

Atlanta University Center Robert W. Woodruff Library permanent art collection provides an engaging visual arts environment for AUC students and faculty while preserving the artistic achievements of African American artists. Founded as the Knowledge & Arts Initiative in 2010 under the artistic leadership of Jea and Louis Delsarte and the curatorial leadership of Dr. Amalia Amaki, the collection comprises works by AUC faculty, alumni, and legacy artworks by artists of the African diaspora.  

Through strategic acquisitions, generous donations, and institutional support, the library’s art collection has grown into a significant repository of paintings, prints, photographs, sculptures, mixed-media works, and archival materials. The collection contributes to the development of an intellectually and visually stimulating library environment while promoting student engagement with the library’s resources, spaces, and programs. Through the visual arts, the library’s art collection aims to foster critical inquiry, intellectual growth, and a sense of connection to the institution.
